ABOUT ME

THE PATH TO LUBBOCK

I grew up in North Houston and went to college at Texas A&M, where I earned my undergraduate degree. I completed grad school at  the University of Kentucky, with a Master's and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. In 2008, I returned to Texas and settled down here in Lubbock. My son is now 17 and a senior at Lubbock High. I spend most of my weekends either volunteering or cheering on the Texas Tech Basketball team. Go RAIDERS! (I still miss Coach Tubby Smith, who was at U Tulsa and U KY with me.)

MY CAREER HAS BEEN FASCINATING (AT LEAST TO ME!)

I received my Clinical Psychology Ph.D. and a Master's degree from the University of Kentucky, along with a Master's from the University of Tulsa and a Bachelor's from Texas A&M University. My areas of research interest include individual differences among people, such as psychopathology, personality, and ability.  I teach Accounting Ethics in the Master's in Accounting program, and Statistics and Decision Theory in the MBA program in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech. I have extensive experience in large-scale measurement and testing and in individual assessment. My primary assessment experience has been in forensic psychology and neuropsychology settings, and in a variety of community outpatient and inpatient settings. Forensic psychiatric facilities, jails, and prisons in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky have all helped train me.

My current research is about biases in judgement in forensic accounting, as well as imposter phenomena in the workplace.

MISSION STATEMENT

Equity leads to Opportunity

A vibrant educational system is the road to an equitable and thriving society. I am therefore committed to having our schools recognized as a central pillar of our community. Our schools deserve our time, our resources, and the support of our entire community. My mission is to strengthen the Lubbock community through support for teachers, support staff, and through the necessary resource allocation for our schools. We must support their critical role in guiding our children to become functional and fully participating members of society. For Lubbock to excel, LISD must be excellent!
